The Foreign Minister meets his Lebanese counterpart on the sidelines of the Arab League Council meeting.

Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad, met with Mr. Youssef Raji, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants of the sisterly Lebanese Republic, on Monday, June 22, on the sidelines of the meeting of the Council of the League of Arab States held in Jordan.

Minister Abdel-Aty praised the distinguished historical relations between the two brotherly countries, emphasizing the commitment to elevating bilateral relations in all fields. During the meeting, he affirmed Egypt's full solidarity with brotherly Lebanon in confronting the delicate challenges it is facing, stressing Egypt's unwavering stance against any infringement upon Lebanon's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. He reiterated Egypt's support for the full and non-selective implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and the necessity of the immediate and complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from all Lebanese territory, enabling the Lebanese army and state institutions to extend their authority over the entire national territory. In this context, he emphasized the necessity for Israel to cease all military attacks on Lebanon and condemned its repeated targeting of Lebanese facilities, which constitutes an attack on Lebanon's sovereignty and a violation of international law and the UN Charter.

Minister Abdel-Aati affirmed Egypt’s support for Lebanese state institutions, foremost among them the Lebanese army, to enable them to fulfill their responsibilities in extending their sovereignty over all Lebanese territory, stressing Egypt’s support for the Lebanese state’s efforts aimed at establishing security and limiting weapons.

For his part, the Lebanese Foreign Minister expressed his thanks and appreciation to Egypt for its continued efforts in supporting Lebanon, stressing his country’s aspiration to continue benefiting from Egypt’s distinguished relations and diplomatic weight at the regional and international levels, in a way that contributes to preserving Lebanon’s sovereignty and stability and supporting Lebanese state institutions.
