A queen of the Himalayan hills
Known for her biodiversity skills,
Hangs on the edge of an abyss
A sense of fear and awe, she instills.
There were warnings from here and there
Always to remain cautious, alert and beware.
But, in a blind race to exploit her resources
About these warnings, who would care ?
Now, people are weird about a rainy day
They feel insecure even in an indoor stay.
The multi- storeyed buildings of concrete
May cave in , spilling rubble and clay .
The collapse of buildings and hoards
Landslides and subsidence of roads
Shifting mountains and erosion of soil,
Belie the signs on indication boards .
Nature has given us abundance of beauty
Diverse fauna and flora, a great biodiversity.
Let them grow and flourish spontaneously,
To protect nature should be our prime duty.
Man, taking an advantage quicker and faster,
Built roads or structures of concrete and plaster.
Natural balance is being deteriorated
Increasing susceptibility of natural disaster.
Change has been visible and alarming
Forests are cut for dwellings or farming .
To generate some material resources
Natural biodiversity, the man is harming.
Is Nature alone, responsible for this fury
Each one of us should ponder as a jury
Why we caused ecological degradation
How could we cure this self inflicted injury?
